Reading PA Bail Bonds Process

When a person is arrested by law enforcement, they will typically be taken to the Reading Police Department or Sheriff’s Office for booking. The amount of bail is determined by the Magisterial District Judge in each particular Pennsylvania County. Most often the defendant will be able to post bail immediately. In order to post bail you will need to contact a Reading Bail Bonds company.

Posting Pennsylvania bail bonds involves a contractual undertaking guaranteed by A+ Bail Agency, surety and the indemnitor (usually a relative or close friend). The Reading Bail Bond is a financial guarantee to the court that the defendant will appear in court each and every time the court orders. For this service, the Reading Bail Bond Agent charges a premium for the service (typically 5-10% of the full bail amount). In addition, the reading bail agency may require physical collateral, the signing of a reading bail bond agreement (contract), or both, depending on the individual circumstances. Often times a defendant can be bailed out of berks county jail with only the signature of a responsible indemnitor (cosigner).

After an agreement is reached between the reading bail bond agent and the indemnitor and all fees are paid, the reading bail agent physically posts a reading bail bond for the full bail amount with the berks county jail or berks county court. The defendant is released on bail and given a date and location to appear in court. If the defendant fails to appear in court, the indemnitor is responsible for paying the full amount of the bail. If the defendant is located and arrested by the reading bail agent, the indemnitor is responsible for all fees and expenses incurred by the Reading bail agent while looking for the defendant.

Note: It is very important the indemnitor feels confident the defendant will appear at all of his/her court appearances or posting a reading bail bond is not recommended.
